BALDWIN, James Arthur
BALDWIN, James Arthur, 63, of Butler, PA, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at UPMC. He was born Thursday, January 22, 1942, in Johnstown, the son of the late George Earl Baldwin and the late Melvena Weaver Baldwin. He was a member of The American Legion, Post117; life member of DAV; served in the U.S. Air Force; and was
an avid bowler. He worked for United Parcel Service. Surviving are his fiancee, Barbara Durkacs; a daughter; Kimberly Ann Pavic, wife of Richard Pavic, of Johnstown; a grandson, Justin R. Pavic of Johnstown; a brother, Robert E., and his wife, Patricia Baldwin, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a special nephew, Mike Baldwin, and family; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. Friday, July I, 2005, at the Young Funeral Home Ltd., Butler, The American Legion Post #117 will have a military service at 7 p.m. Friday. BAREFOOT, Joseph Paul, 74, of Huckleberry Highway, Berlin (Stonycreek Township), died March 27, 2006, at Somerset Hospital. Born July 1, 1931, in Johnstown, son of Paul E. Barefoot and Grace (Beal) Barefoot Spangler. Preceded in death by parents and stepfather, Milton "Petey" Spangler. Survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Jimmie Foy; children, Joseph Paul Jr. of Johnstown, and Jayne Ardel Meyer of Berlin; and grandchildren, Jason Wayne, Jacob Maxamillian and Joanne Michelle Barefoot; Angela Grace Meyer; and Mark Anthony Brauer. A 1949 graduate of Quemahoning-Stoystown High School and graduate of Penn State University. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Retired federal employee from Washington, D.C. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Stoystown, where he sang in the choir. He also sang with the Roof Garden Chorus and Barber Shop Quartet. Member of the Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion, Stoystown; Berlin VFW Post 7565; New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club; and past president of Mid-Atlantic Golf Course Association. BAREFOOT, Lynn H., 62, Windber, formerly of Bedford County, died at 12:55 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2005, at Laurel Crest Manor, Ebensburg. Born April 8, 1943, in Johnstown, son of the late Max and Alverda Sue (Rowser) Barefoot. Preceded in death by brother, Wayne S. Barefoot, Clarksville, Tenn. Survived by stepdaughter, Tina Hillegass of Schellsburg; son, Lynn D. Barefoot of Alum Bank; daughters, Tammy Miller of Alum Bank; Tawnya McClucas of Fishertown; and Tisia Maxwell of Osterburg; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Joel Barefoot of Centreville, Va., and Danny Barefoot of Moon Township, Pa.; and sisters, Iris Coachman of Natrona Heights, Pa., and Susie Thompson of Newell, W.Va. BAREFOOT, Mildred (Lorencik) BAREFOOT, Mildred (Lorencik) 79, of Lincoln Place died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006. Survived by her husband, Russell Barefoot; daughter, Robin (Terry) Steyer, of Forest Hills; sons, Russell (Elma) Barefoot, of Manns Choice, and Randy (Terri) Barefoot, of Lincoln Place, grandchildren, Russell, Christie Lynn and Wesley Barefoot, and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Tyler. BAREFOOT, Morris J.
BAREFOOT, Morris J., age 81, of Norton Shores, Mich., died Monday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Windber, Pa., to Edwin and Leona Barefoot (deceased). He married Geraldine Monson on Nov. 20, 1948, who preceded him in death in February of 1989. Morris then married Freda O. Loyselle, who survives him, along with his sons, William (Gail) Barefoot and Larry (Cyndi) Barefoot; and stepdaughters, Celia (Chuck) Geark and Sharon (Joe) McQuaig. Morris enjoyed 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Curtis of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Carl (Shirley) Barefoot of Greensburg, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Ralph Ewalt; and stepbrother, Howard (Rita) Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert, and his stepsister, Juanita. Morris was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church; an honorary member of Windber Fire Company, American Legion of Pa., VFW Post 3195 and VFW Honor Guard, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Ravenna Lodge #441, F&AM; past master of Lovell Moore Lodge #182; member of Muskegon Chapter #47, R.A.M.; Muskegon Commandery, K.T.; Saladin Shrine of Grand Rapids and the Saladin Chanters, Court #11, R.O.J.; Muskegon Shrine Club; Mona Lake Boating Club; and was past patron of Genesis Chapter #88, O.E.S. He had served as past high priest of Royal Masons and with the White Shrine of Jerusalem. He retired from Sealed Power Corp. in 1987. BAREFOOT, Nathan Russell
BAREFOOT, Nathan "Nate" Russell received his Eternal Independence on Monday, July 4, 2005. He was ushered into Heaven in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nate was 67 years old. He was born into a loving home on April 9, 1939, the son of Ward and Eula (Nunamaker) Barefoot, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 3, 1959, he married the love of his life, Bertha Louise Mihalko. She survives along with their four loving children and their spouses: Kimberly, married to Daniel Dicken, of Fishertown; Eric "Rick," married to the former Brenda Morgart, of Alum Bank; Kristal, married to Dan King of Alum Bank; and Linette, married to Timothy Dicken, of New Paris. He is also survived by 10 beautiful grandchildren, whom he loved so much: Amber, Jonathan, Nicole, Derrick, Caleb, Bethany, Matthew, Kristen, Noah and Nathan, and a granddaughter-in-law, Jasmine (Miller) Dicken. He is survived by brother, Nevin Barefoot of Alum Bank, and sisters, Mildred Heming of Alum Bank, and Florene Davis of Millmont. He was preceded in death by brothers, Veryl, Harold, Clair and Leonard; sisters, Mary Dull and Helen Smith; and an infant son. Nathan was the owner of Barefoot Construction for many years. He retired in April of 2000, but continued to help in the family business. He served in the U.S. Army from April 15, 1957, to Aug. 2, 1962. On Monday, he died doing what he loved, spending a holiday with his wife, children, grandchildren and family and friends. Nate was loved by all who knew him. Through the years, he has touched many lives. His strongest desire was to see his Lord and to see all of his family and loved ones make it to Heaven. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Although his passing was Heaven's gain and our loss, we as Christians know we will be with him in the morning. At Nate's request, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at Peoples Bible Holiness Church on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Curtis Cox officiating. BERKEY, Alice E., 89, of New Vienna, Ohio, formerly of Hooversville, died Dec. 26, 2005, at the home of her daughter in New Vienna. Born May 12,1916, in Johnstown, daughter of Shaff and Nora Rininger. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Edward L. Berkey , Sr. (former president of community National Bank and former vice president of Johnstown Bank and Trust); sisters, Madaline Dickey and Mary Vaneer; brothers, Tom and Jack Adams; and daughter-in-law, Linda D. (Geary) Berkey. Survived by a daughter, Beverly Ann, married to John Coy, of New Vienna, Ohio; son, Edward L. "Birdie" Berkey Jr., and fiancee, Carol A. Caola, of Hooversville; grandchildren, Jill Ann, married to Jesse Boncoski; Todd Berkey; Tricia Saunders; Matt and Becky Coy; and great-grandchildren, Preston and Linda Boncoski; Jessica, Eric and Kaitlynn Napier; and Kassandra Saunders. BLACKBURN, Margaret G. (Barefoot), 91, 207 Ottawa St., formerly of Lincoln Lee Apartments, died May 4, 2006, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born Oct. 15, 1914, in Bedford County, daughter of the late Harry D. and Elizabeth (Beckley) Barefoot. Preceded in death by husband, Marion E.; daughter, Carole McMeans; and one grandson. Survived by daughters, Marlene, wife of Alan Ripple, Littleton, Colo.; Nancy, wife of Frank Ashbridge, Johnstown; and Peggy, wife of Wallace Leadbetter, Douglasville, Ga. Also survived by son-in-law, Kermit McMeans, Burnsville, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruthanna Carson, Chambersburg, Pa.; and brother, H. Fred Barefoot, Alum Bank, Pa. Member of the Franklin Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blackburn was a Red Cross volunteer and was employed for many years with Kline Landers.

BOWSER, Emerson
BOWSER, Emerson, 85, Industrial Lane, Alum Bank, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at Windber Hospice. Born in Ryot, West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, on Friday, Dec. 7, 1917, he was the son of the late Sewell and Ada (Barefoot) Bowser. He was the owner of Bowser’s Meat Market, Pleasantville. He was the husband of Ethel M. (Constable) Bowser, whom he married on July 20, 1940. He was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He was a longtime mayor of Pleasantville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Barbara A., wife of Orlo Wright, Alum Bank, and sister, Helen Crew, Urbandale, Iowa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chad Wright and wife, Jessi; Pamela Sumers; and Troy, Rob and Ross Bowser, and three grandchildren, Lance, Andy and Layne. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, on Aug. 22, 2003; brothers, Warren, Kenneth, Russell, Carl, Eugene, and Gerald; and sister, Allene Watkins.

BOWSER, Robert A.
BOWSER, Robert A., 60, of Adams Run Road, New Paris, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 26, 1943, in Johnstown, son of Emerson and Ethel (Constable) Bowser, Alum Bank. He retired as a truck driver from W.C. McQuaide Trucking, Johnstown, after 37 years of driving. He was also a bulk mail hauler. He was the husband of Janet L. (Barefoot) Bowser, whom he married on Aug. 25,1967. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Pleasantville. Mr. Bowser was a former member of the Chestnut Ridge Horsemen's Club. He loved being out of doors, and his greatest job was his grandson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents; sons, Troy A. Bowser, Osterburg; Rob J. Bowser, Schellsburg; and Ross E. Bowser, at home; sister, Barbara Wright, Alum Bank; grandson, Layne Austin Bowser; and niece, Pam Summers, Alum Bank.

BUREK, Anna "Frances" Fern (Cauffiel), 85, of Somerset, formerly of Boswell. died Aug. 15, 2005, at the Patriot. Born Oct. 20, 1919, in Jenner Township, she is the daughter of the late John E. and Rachael E. (Rhoads) Cauffiel, Sr. Also preceded in death by husband, John Stanislaw Burek, who died April 8, 1962, and brothers, Daniel and John E. Cauffiel, Jr. Survived by children, Mrs. Dennis J. (Sandra L.) Barren and John R, Burek, both of Somerset, and a beloved granddaugther, Lindsay Hachael Harron of Somerset. CONRAD, Robert R. "Roy," 76, Stonycreek Township, died March 29, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center, main campus. Born April 29, 1929, in Johnstown, the son of the late James Frank and Edna (Buchanan) Barefoot. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, the former Mary Lou Fisher; these children, Craig "Skip"; David, married to the former Karen Regan; and Kimberly, married to Samuel Paonessa, all of Johnstown, and Douglas, married to the former Jeanne Beckerle, Massachusetts; and beloved grandchildren, Shawn, Nicole, Jennifer, Alyssa, Ryan, Greg and Rebecca. Also survived by brothers, Denver, California, and Carl, Florida, and sister, Jo Ann Misler, Davidsville. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran, retired as an inspector at Bethlehem Steel Wire Mill and worked for the Office of the Aging. CORLE, A. Wayne
CORLE, A. Wayne, age 81, of Dark Hollow Road, Imler, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Aspinwall,Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa. Mr. Corle was born in Lincoln Township on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1924, son of the late Roy C. and Alice (Mock) Corle.

Wayne was a self-employed contractor in Johnstown for many years. He was a member of Weyant United Methodist Church. Mr. Corle was the past president of the Home Builders Association of the Alleghenies, president of Corle Corporation Builders,
president of Conemaugh Coal -- Construction Co. and district chairman of the former Raystown District of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

Wayne was the husband of Karen (Noon) Corle, whom he married Oct. 14, 1986. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Brenda, wife of William Cover, Johnstown; daughter, Linda, wife of Matthew Scislowicz, Johnstown; daughter, Marsha, wife of John Quinn, Connecticut; daughter, Lisa,wife of Walter Mueller, Elizabethtown; daughter, Michelle, wife of Raymond Webb, Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Melissa, wife of John Woomer, Altoona; son, Michael, fiance of Jade Roberts, Pittsburgh; brother, Glenn, Imler; sister, Ruth Dubinsky, Osterburg; sister, Una Long, Hollidaysburg; brother, Paul, Imler; sister, Gloria Corl, Bedford; first wife, Opal (Mock) Corle of Johnstown. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by two brothers, Byron and Gene, and two sisters, Omelia Ake and Miriam Chappell. CUPPETT, Eugene E.
CUPPETT, Eugene E., age 67, of Shippy Road, Manns Choice, died at 8:46 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2006, at Pennknoll Village. Eugene was born in Johnstown on Oct. 25, 1938, son of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Ferg) Cuppett. He was a food and cover maintenance worker for the Pa. Game Commission for seven years. Prior to that, he was an equipment operator for PennDOT and served in the U.S. Army. Eugene was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Pleasantville, and a member of the Bedford Moose Lodge #480. He was the husband of Sally A. (McMillen) Shippey-Cuppett, whom he married on Feb. 8, 1992. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sister, Marcia, wife of Perry Claar, Osterburg; sister, Linda, wife of Albert Custer, Alum Bank. He is also survived by four nieces, two nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Cuppett. Preceded in death by parents and husband, Earl E. "Skip." Survived by sons, Edward, married to the former Jane Emery, of Ocean City. EGOLF, Jane K., 77, of Alum Bank, died Feb. 13, 2006, at home. Born Aug. 21, 1928, in New Paris, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph H. Kniseley and Helen (Blackburn) Kniseley, who survives. She is also survived by her husband, James H. Egolf, whom she married July 5, 1952; son Joseph J. Egolf of New Paris; son John David Egolf and wife, Joan (Strock) of Dillsburg and two grandsons: Spencer and Austin Egolf. Jane was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She taught at New Enterprise and Chestnut Ridge schools and was also a homemaker. She was affiliated with the St. James Church in Alum Bank and Ryot Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at 2 p.m. at J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Her mind is remarkable;, she can remember whom she taught, where they sat, and she recited poetry she learned as a child, I've been talking with her on the phone over the years and visited with her when I was home but she doesn't have a phone now. Survived by wife of 45 years, the former Elsie Thomas; and these children: Clifford, married to the former Beth Wess, Shaffer Road, Johnstown; Thomas, married to the former Jennifer Potts, St. James Road, Boswell; and Scott, married to the former Erin Potts, Dream Road, Hollsopple; eight granddaughters: Lindsay, Alexa, Brooke, Haley, Sarah, Shelby, Laci and Julianne. Brother of Carol, wife of Wayne Kauffman, Davidsville. He was a member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davidsville. Retired from Penelec with 38 years of service as a line supervisor. He was a member of the Jenner Community Sportsmen, Greater Ferndale Sportsmen and Somerset County Sheep Farmers Association, where he served on the board. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, also the Rise and Stride Club. An avid hunter and fisherman. Enjoyed spending time on his sheep farm. GLESSNER, Helen, Born Feb.7, 1911, in Greensburg. Died Feb. 11, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center, at the age of 94. Daughter of the late Millard and Myrtle (Thompson) Cairns. Preceded in death by husband, George W.; brothers, Charles and Clair; half brothers, Thomas and Dick; and half sisters, Ruby and Frankie. Survived by son, Brent, married to former, Barbara Baker, Boswell: grand-daughter, Whitney Glessner, Hollsopple; and half brother, Sam, Stahlstown. Helen had a love of animals, especially horses, and lived alone on her farm until the age of 92. On her 80th birthday, her son, Brent, and granddaughter, Whitney presented her with a horse named Velvet, which she trail rode through the mountains until her mid 80's. HEIDORN, Matthew M., 43, Johnson Road, Shickshinny, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of a car accident. Born Sept. 11, 1962, in Bedford, a son of Marian McCreary of Schellsburg and the late Ronald D. Heidorn. Matthew graduated from Penn State University and earned abachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1985 and did graduate work at Bucknell.When he first moved to the Berwick area, he was employed by PP&L Power Plant at Bell Bend for 14 years and since became self-employed as a real estate developer and was the founder and president.of Heidorn Development. Matthew was a former member of the YMCA Board and played Tri-County League Baseball for several years. He enjoyed working; working out and was a supporter of local charities and veterans groups,, but preferred to do it from behind the scenes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Ruth Heidorn. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his maternal grand-parents, Randall and Irene McCreary of Schellsburg; his special friend, Robyn Sadie, of Shickshinny; former wife and business partner, Nancy J. Marr of Turbotville; sister, Michelle Berger of Schellsburg; nephews, Damien Weyandt, and his wife, Jessica, and their children, Bailee and Lucas, all of Windber; and Justin Berger, at home; and numerous aunts, un-
cles, loyal employees and associates.

He also helped Edward Blackburn in the ambulance business and helped with some funerals from time to time. He was a volunteer for Chestnut Ridge Ambulance and Alum Bank Fire Company as fire police. He was a forest fire warden for 34 years. Reed was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

She was on her way home to her Joe who had died many years before, but I hated to lose her. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Eleanor for saving the Barefoot Reunion when attendance had dropped off and the money was so low that we could no longer afford a pavilion. She and I worked together to make the reunion solvent and to increase membership. I miss her, and when I go to Windber for the Barefoot Reunion, I almost expect her to still be there. MICKLE, Harold Walter, 85, of Lovely Road, Alum Bank, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 22, 1920, in Alum Bank, son of the late Charles Mickle and Celia (Taylor) Stufft. On Nov. 6, 1943, in Phoenix City, Ala., he married Avanelle Louise Mock. He is survived by his wife, Avanelle; children, Gary Mickle, and wife Faye (McDonald) Mickle, Alum Bank; Terry Mickle, and fiance, Jacqueline Howsare, Centerville; Wendy Wallace, wife of Steve Wallace, Palmyra; and Robert Mickle, and wife, Kimberly (DeCriscio) Mickle, Alum Bank; brother, Bernard Stufft, and wife, Marsha (Zinn) Stufft, Everett; brother, Myron Stufft, married to the late Janet (Fleegle) Stufft, New Paris; and six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. Mr. Mickle was a lifetime member of the Dunnings Creek Church of the Brethren, New Paris. He was owner and operator of the Lovely General Store and the Chestnut Ridge Market until retiring in 1985. Harold, a veteran of World War II, served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He enjoyed traveling, camping and listening to bluegrass music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. MOCK, Arthur C., 70, of Wayne Blvd., Alum Bank, died Monday, April 3, 2006, in his hunting cabin in Lincoln Township. He was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Pittsburgh, son of Clair Mock of Colonial Courtyard, Bedford and the late Ruth L. (Bowser) Mock. On July 13, 1975, in Bedford he married Joann Mowry, who survives along with two sons: Lorne W. Mock and wife, Deana of Schellsburg; Travis L. Grahmann and wife, Kat of Victoria, Tex.; three step-children: Joni, wife of Glenn Allen of Bedford; Sandra K., wife of Joel Hershberger of Bedford; and Richard A. Bender and wife, Ellen of Alum Bank. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and three sisters: Elaine, wife of Ray Sollenberger of Everett; Nancy, wife of Ivan Mitchell of New Paris and Donna, wife of Jim Everhart of Alum Bank.
Mr. Mock served with the Navy aboard the USS Fulton. He was a life member of the Pleasantville VFW Post 9219, a member of the Bedford American Legion Post 113 and the Bedford Moose Lodge No. 480. He was a barber for 45 years, retiring from Lee=s Barber Shop in Bedford. He was also a heavy equipment operator for Oldham’s Excavating.

She was born April 6, 1921 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Greecher. She was married to Francis J. O’Connor, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by a son, Francis J. O’Connor, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia and husband, Frank Maltz of Acosta; a brother, Stephen Greecher of Johnstown; two grandchildren; Pamela Maltz of Long Island, N.Y. and Brian Maltz of Acosta; companion and friend, Carl E. Muir, Sr. of Fishertown and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. O’Connor was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Benscreek. She had been an active participant in the Somerset County Democratic Party, was a member of the Ideal Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary and for over 20 years was a school bus driver for McIlwain Charter Service in Benscreek. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. OLDHAM, Mildred N. (Saylor), 83, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Fishertown and Sharon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, from her home. She was born Oct. 11, 1922, in West Saint Clair Township, a daughter of the late William Meade Saylor and Carrie Dena (Barefoot) Saylor. On June 13, 1942, in Ellerslie, Md., she married Harold W. “Ham” Oldham. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1996. She is survived by her son-in-law, Larry W. Diehl of Mechanicsburg; three grandsons: Darin W. Diehl and wife, Kerri (Swarz) Diehl of Mechanicsburg; Dr. Lance E. Diehl and wife, Catherine (Frazier) Diehl of Charlotte, N.C.; Brandon J. Diehl and wife, Stacey (Barrick) Diehl of Newville; great-granchildren: Myleah, Adisson, Jacob and Megyn; a brother George R. Saylor and wife, Leah (Adams) Saylor of Hermitage and sister, L. Kathleen Barefoot of Twinsburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Kaye Diehl in June of 2005; sisters: Nelle Weaver, Phyllis Westover and Barbara Handwork, and brothers: Palmer E. Saylor, Owen M. Saylor and R. Duane Saylor. Mrs. Oldham previously attended the Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Initially she and her husband owned and operated Ham's Snack Bar on Quaker Valley Road in Fishertown. Then they moved to Sharon, Pa., where she was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, traveling with her family and playing cards, especially pinochle. For a number of years, she and her husband had retired to Ft. Pierce, Fla., spending time with her brothers and sisters who also lived in Florida, and then moved to Mechanicsburg to be with her daughter and grandchildren. Mrs. Oldham was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed for her kind and caring way. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at 1 p.m. in the Dalla Valle Funeral chapel with the Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating. RININGER, Caroline Marie “Carrie” (Amershek)
RININGER - Caroline Marie "Carrie," died Nov. 10, 2004, at the Valley View Haven Nursing Home in Belleville, Pa. She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Johnstown, Pa., to the late Michael and Mary (Wolfing) Amershek. On the 17th of January 1929 she married Merritt Nace Rininger who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1980. Carrie was a homemaker and lived in the Oakland section of Johnstown. In 1995 she moved to State College and resided at the Addison Court Apartments until 2001 when she moved to the Valley View Assisted Living apartments in Belleville, Pa. While she resided in Johnstown, she was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and a life member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, where she served in many capacities over the years. She will be remembered fondly by many relatives and friends for her hospitality, her love of cooking and baking, and for her generosity. She enjoyed card games and continued to be active with several groups. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Wheeler of Alvin, Texas, widow of Ramon Wheeler, and a son, William R., and his wife, Betty (Price) Rininger of Boalsburg, Pa.; and one brother, Louis Amershek, and his wife Chris of Bedford, Pa.; seven grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Belihar, Hannah (Umberger) Koreltz, Pauline Baretincic; and brothers, Michael, Rudy, Leo, Joseph, Anthony, and Charles. SAYLOR, Carroll Louise (Claycomb)
SAYLOR, Carroll Louise, 83, of Blairsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006. She was at home surrounded by her children. She was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Osterburg, a daughter of the late Andrew Leroy “Roy” Claycomb and Lena (Imler) Claycomb. On Jan. 31, 1942, in Cumberland, Md., she married R. Duane Saylor, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2003. She is survived by their children: Gail Acker and husband, Robert, Bayport, N.Y.; Connie Klabnik and husband, Clement, New Alexandria; Nevin Duane Saylor and wife, Paula (Benton), Indiana; Elinor Sossong and hsuband, Fred, Greensburg; nine grandchildren: Kristen and husband, Bob, Diane, Kevin and wife, Laura, Joseph, Benjamin, Gregory, Annabeth, Kimberly and Carolyn; three great-grandchildren: Kayla, Eric and Amanda; a brother: Joseph P. Claycomb and wife, Helen (Hampton) Claycomb, Carlisle; sister-in-law: Doris Claycomb, Delaware; brother-in-law: Shirley F. Dively, Wellsboro. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Jean Saylor on Jan. 1, 1943, a sister: Elinor Dively and brother Robert F. Claycomb. Mrs. Saylor was a member of the Osterburg United Church of Christ and attended the Black Lick Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of East Saint Clair High School, Class of 1939, a graduate of the Altoona Beauty Academy, a member of the Blairsville Chapter No. 166 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Black Lick Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Earlier, she had worked as a dental assistant, and also operated a beauty shop in her home. She enjoyed attending live musical performances, especially those of her family, and took great pride in her family’s musical talents. She also enjoyed watching old movies, reading, traveling and camping with her husband and family, and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed for making her house a home for her family and friends. STULTZ, Robert B., 85, of Hoover Road, Schellsburg, died at 4:14 a.m.,Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Windber Hospice, Windber, Pa. Born in New Paris, Bedford County, Pa., on Saturday, May 11, 1918, he was the son of the late William A. and Olive (Barefoot) Stultz. He was an electrician at Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown, and a farmer. He was the husband of Gladys (Bowser) Stultz, whom he married on April 15, 1939. He was a member of the Spring Meadow Family Worship Center. In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Rev. Robert B.Stultz, husband of Patricia (Oravec), New Paris; daughter, Bonnie L. Claycomb, Osterburg; son, Daniel A. Stultz, husband of Pearlyn (Tany)Bedford; daughter, Joanne, wife of Thomas Felix, New Paris; sister, Ruthanna, wife of Sherman Fix, Bedford; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grand-children. SUTER, Jay H.
Jay H. Suter, 82, of Cortland Drive, New Paris, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Altoona Hospital, Blair County. Mr. Suter was born in Napier Township,
on June 4, 1923. He was the son of the late Herbert B. and Anna V. (Blattenberger) Suter. Jay was the husband of Doris K. (Feather) Suter, whom he married Dec. 26, 1945. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James L., husband of Beverly Holler, New Paris; daughter, Rebecca J. Suter, of New Paris, daughter, Polly S., wife of Brian Wells, Centerville; sister, Florence Ickes, Fishertown;
sister-in-law, Audrey, widow of Thomas Suter, Colorado springs, Colo. Jay is also survived by four grandchildren: Jamie and Jason Suter and Christy and Mark Wells. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy and Violet Suter and a brother Thomas. He was an iron worker for 57 years, mostly with Somerset Steel Erection. Before and after retiring he enjoyed working for 30 years at the orchard he started outside of New Paris. Jay was a member of New Paris United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Iron Workers Local No. 3 of Pittsburgh, Schellsburg VFW Post No. 4440 and Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 320 F&AM. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Seebees in World War II at battles in Okinawa, Bouganville and Guadacanal. WATKINS, Charles T."Chuck” Wadsworth, 63, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Hospice of Medina at the Inn. Born in Alum Bank. Pa, Mr. Watkins resided in Wadsworth since 1996, previously residing in Carlisle, Pa. He was an electrical engineer at IBM and after retiring taught school in Pennsylvania for 5 years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II and a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lodge 385 F&AM and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, Virginia K. (nee Hoover); children, Jeanne Rasi and husband Laddie of Deland, Fla., Joyce E. Terrill and husband John of Yorbe Linda, Calif., Charles R. and wife Linda of Wadsworth; grandchildren. Steven, Susan, Karen, Kimbery, Erin, Justin and; four great-grandchildren. WATKINS, James Lowell
WATKINS, James ‘Jimmy' Lowell April 2, 1931- June 13, 2005. James (Jimmy) Lowell Watkins, 74, of State College, died June 13, 2005 at his daughter’s residence. Born April 2, 1931, he was the son of the late Ralph and Ailene Watkins of Bedford. On October 13, 1956, he married Faye Diehl, who survives at home. Jimmy was born and raised on a farm in Bedford County. Following his graduation from Bedford High School in 1950, he enrolled in Animal Husbandry at the Pennsylvania State University. His studies were interrupted by serving with the United States Army in Korea until his release in 1956. He resumed his education at Penn State and later graduated in 1958 with a B.S. degree in Animal Husbandry. In 1959 he was appointed Assistant in Animal Husbandry, where he served as swine herdsman until 1960, at which time he was named Plant Manager of the newly constructed Penn State Meats Laboratory.
In 1965 he was promoted to Instructor in Animal Science. While engaged in teaching and research, he continued to work in graduate studies and in March 1966 received his M.S. degree in Animal Science.
In 1971 he was promoted to Assistant Professor and in 1984 to Associate Professor of Animal Science. Over the years he taught or co-taught nearly all the meats related courses at Penn State. Jim began active work with the Penn State Meats Judging team as an assistant coach 1960. He was head coach of the team from 1976 to 1984.
His concern for students was shown by his instrumental role in obtaining scholarships for Animal Production students. State FFA and 411 meat contests were organized by Jim for many years. His work with high school youth is recognized by the numerous citations and awards he received from the Future Farmers of America. Active in the Penn State Stockman's Club, he served as secertary/treasurer and president. He received the club's Booster Award in 1977 and 1989; and in 1976, the student Block and Bridle Club dedicated the Little International Show to him. In 1998, Jimmy was inducted into the Pennsylvania Livestock Association Hall of Fame. This award recognizes excellence in animal agriculture. The inductees are leaders in local, state, national and international endeavors. Jim authored and co-authored many scientific and popular articles dealing with meats and animal production. Over the years he judged many carcass and livestock shows. He was active in designing meat packing plants and working with Pennsylvania meat packers and processors. In 1984 he wrote a book "Planning for a Small Meat Packing Business" that is widely regarded and used by meats specialists across the country. Jim was a member of Gamma Sigma Delta and Delta Theta Sigma's honor society. He is a past director and Secretary/Treasurer of the Pennsylvania Meat Packers Association. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge, Harrisburg Consistory Altoona Jaffa, active in Rotary and past president of the Ferguson Township Lion's Club. Since his retirement in 1987 Jimmy continued to remain active and enjoyed helping others whenever he could. One of his greatest joys was working on a good construction project. When he wasn't working or helping someone else, he would escape to one of his favorite places, Lake Raystown, enjoying the lake, cottage and his boat with friends and family. Jimmy's philosophy was "work hard and play hard." He will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for life and for his love for his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughter, Pam Wild and son-in-law Bob and their children Kristyn Stewart and Drew Wild, son Randy Watkins and daughter-in-law Lisa and their son Shawn, his sister Shirley Williams of Bedford and brother Davis Watkins of Boswell Pa. Visitation will he held from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 9 PM on Thursday, June 16, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College.

WATKINS, Mrs. Ruth A., age 79, of Berlin, but formerly of Dunnings Creek Road, New Paris, went to be with the Lord at 1:50 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, at Meadowview Nursing Center.
Mrs. Watkins was born in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Howard W. and Sara (Bender) Miller. She worked as a clerk at Sears Roebuck Co. in Johnstown. She also operated the concession stand at the Richland Drive-in Theater, the Village Restaurant in Pleasantville and retired as a cook from Donahoe Manor in Bedford.
Ruth was a 1943 graduate of Pleasantville High School. She was the widow of William J. Watkins, whom she married in June of 1944, and he preceded her death on Nov. 7, 2000.
Ruth is survived by son, William, husband of Sandra Reighard, Hollsopple; son, Alan, husband of Rosemary Rodgers, Tampa, Fla.; son, Thomas, New Paris; son. Rick, Pleasantville; brother, William Miller, husband of Harriet Claycomb, New Paris; and sister, Mary, wife of Charlie Yates, Greencastle. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Feaster.

YODER, James F., 79, Upper Yoder, died Aug. 30, 2004, at Meadowview Nursing Center, Berlin, Born Jan. 12, 1925, in Johnstown, son of the late Collins F- and Almeta E. (Stanton) Yoder. Survived by loving wife, the former Sharon R. Cannonie; son, Barry Yoder, married to Tina, Florida; daughter, Elizabeth, married to Steve Crews, Florida; grand-children, Richard Yoder and Philip Bunting; sister, Mary Alice, married to William Petro, Phoenix, Ariz.; stepson, Timothy Ostrich., Indiana, Pa.;stepdaughters, Terri Ann, married to John Shober, Lancaster; and Paula Ostrich, Johnstown; stepgrandchildren, Jonathan and Jessica Shober; and mother-in-law, Mildred Cannonie, Davidsville. James was a 1942 graduate of Johnstown High School, World War II Army veteran. Employed as a producer/director at WJAC-TV for over 40 years. Volunteered with the televised Mass at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. For 20 years, he directed the Cambria-Somerset Junior Miss Pageant. He was a member of Johnstown Lodge 538 F.&A.M.and bowled in the Merlo League. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Duffers.

Nathan Russell Barefoot, an Alum Bank contractor, died Monday during a family picnic. He was 67. His daughter, Kristal King, also of Alum Bank, said her father had open-heart surgery in 1990 and wasn't expected to live.
But he pulled through and continued to run the family business, Barefoot Construction, until 2000. Additional heart problems eventually led doctors to tell him they couldn't do anything more for him.
"It was like a miracle that we got to keep him as long as we did," his daughter said.
Mr. Barefoot always barbecued the chicken at the annual picnic and was at his post Monday. Although his wife knew he was tired, he played a game of vol-
leyball after his cooking duties ended.
He believed it was a sin to complain," his daughter said.
He eventually left the game and sat down in the garage.
"He said he probably shouldn't have played," Mrs. King said. "Then he just slumped over."

But Mr. Barefoot wouldn't have wanted it any other way. He had made the comment that he wanted to go fast and he wanted to either be at church or at home.
A spiritual man, Mr. Barefoot frequently gave his personal testimony during services at his church, Peoples Bible Holiness Church in Alum Bank.
"In the last six months, he'd stand and say he was homesick for heaven and that he longed
to go," his daughter said. "His faith was his life."
Mr. Barefoot didn't just talk about his religion. He lived it. He taught Sunday school classes for years, and he and his wife were frequent visitors at local
nursing homes. His daughter said his home always was open to ministers and missionaries who needed a place to stay.
Mr. Barefoot married the former Bertha Louise Mihaiko in 1959. He met his future wife when he played baseball with her brother.
The two were in their teens when they met and continued their courtship through his service with the Army.
Family was important to Mr. Barefoot. His daughter said he not only was close to his own family, but also very close to his wife's family. "The church family were like his family as well," Mrs. King said.
He and his men did carpentry and masonry work in the region. His son continues the business.
There would be days when Mom would ask him to stay home," his daughter said. "But he would say, 'The boys need me.' "My father loved work, family and mostly God," she said. "He left us a beautiful heritage and a legacy."
In addition to his wife and daughter, Mr. Barefoot is survived by two other daughters, Kimberly Dicken of Fishertown and Linette Dicken of New Paris; a son. Eric of Alum Bank; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Nevin of Alum Bank; and two sisters, Mildred Heming of Alum Bank and Florence Davis of Millmont. He was preceded in death by an infant son.
