REFRESHING NEW LOOK AND UPDATE IN 2012

Reading back over the two newsletters posted on this blogspot, I grew sad to realize how many of our members have passed away in this seven-year time-period.  Even though our reunion is in the competent hands of my niece Vicki Erdley, I still miss my sister Eleanor Kinnan, who served as the president for at least 14 years. Her health took a turn for the worse, and she passed away in 2005 from complications of diabetes. I really miss her.

Today I changed the format.  I thought we needed a new look on an old site. The color was orange and white, but now I have changed it to blue and green, which are very soothing.  Hope you like the new look.

I have produced a newsletter ever since my sister Eleanor took over the helm and that same year my husband Jack volunteered to do the first one (that lasted about one time).  We were at a point that we took a vote to decide if we wanted to continue the Barefoot Reunion because no one was interested in leading.  That's when Ele stepped up and said she would serve.  I live too far away from Windber, PA, and have never been interested in  that position, but I am a good support person.  I prepare the newsletter and do the treasury. I am thankful that we have willing officers, and we have a decent attendance, good food, an exciting auction, and nice tributes to those who have died as well as a business meeting.  We appreciate those who attend the reunion and make contributions of service and money, plus it makes us happy to see some of the younger ones take over some of the tasks.  Tomorrow, July 9, 2012, I will celebrate my 70th birthday. One of these days I will pass these jobs onto someone younger, and I hope the reunion thrives and the Barefoots will still gather on a hot day in August to renew old acquaintances and meet new friends.                               Posted by Sylvia (Hott) Sonneborn
